Abstract
The theory of the First Emanation after the Necessary Being, through which the order of creation and the path of human perfection are articulated, is one of the fundamental subjects in religion, philosophy, and mysticism. In this study, using a descriptive-analytical method and library research, we examine the theory of the First Origin after the true essence, its position and importance in the path of human perfection in the Book of Al-Insan Al-Kamil by Aziz Al-Din Nasafi.
We have explained the work of Al-Din Nasafi, one of the mystics of the seventh century. First, the philosophical views and their reflection in the works of the mystics were presented, followed by an analysis of the data. Al-Din Nasafi considers the order of creation to consist of a series of immaterial substances that cannot be separated or divided. He refers to this as the First Essence. In this way, he accounts for the hierarchical order of creation and the multiplicity of the universe. He considers attaining the First Essence to be the goal of the path toward human perfection. This theory is related to al-Farabi’s theory of the Ten Intellects, according to which rational beings play a role in the formation of the hierarchical order of creation. The intellects serve as the precursors of one another, with each intellect coming into existence from another intellect, and their number reaches ten. The heavens, souls, beings, and elements come into existence through these intellects.
