Abstract

By expanding the ideas of his teacher Nasafi and influenced by Neoplatonic and Gnostic thoughts, Abu Ya'qub Sijistani presented a kind of cosmological philosophical system that continued in the works of later thinkers. The subject of this study, conducted through a descriptive-analytical method, is the analysis of the levels of existence from his perspective. According to Abu Ya'qub, creation begins with innovation (or invention). Then the Universal Intellect, which is an eternal substance, comes into being. From the Universal Intellect, the Universal Soul, a spiritual and mobile substance, is created, and from the intellect and soul arise Ancestor, Conquest, and Imagination. Nature is the third creation that is produced from the Universal Soul, and it creates the body through the powers of form and matter (Hyle), time and space, motion and rest. The Universal Soul, through the intermediary of nature and by means of the celestial spheres, creates the elements, and from the elements, the three births come into existence. Human beings are the ultimate goal of creation, who, guided by the prophets and with the help of intellect, achieve happiness.
